Third International Congress of Bulgarian Studies
(23-26 May 2013, Sofia)
In 2013 we celebrate 125 years since the creation of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski " – the first higher education institution in Bulgaria. One of the major events related to the celebration of this anniversary will be the Third International Congress of Bulgarian studies. It will be held from 23 to 26 May 2013 in Sofia under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria with the support of UNESCO. The organizing committee includes prominent scientists Bulgarians from Bulgaria and abroad. Researchers from Europe, Asia and America will participate in the forum.
Similar conferences were held in 1981 and 1986, but in recent decades this tradition due to various reasons was discontinued and part of Bulgarian studies centers ceased their activity. The goal is to restore interest in Bulgarian studies at home and abroad, to renew and to assist in the establishment of new contacts between humanitarians.
Third International Congress of Bulgarian studies is organized by the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski, University Complex on Humanities "Alma Mater", Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and is financed by the Fund Scientific Research at the Ministry of Education and Science.
